The Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services has integrated the State’s Fire and Emer gency Services with the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) 112, making 112 the sin gle emergency number for fire, rescue and other emergencies. Following the integra tion, calls made to the exist ing toll-free Fire and Emer gency helpline 101 will be automatically rerouted to the ERSS-112 Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP).
The calls will then be processed and dispatched to the concerned fire sta tion through the integrated system. The Directorate has appealed to the public to dial 112 instead of 101 for genuine fire, rescue and other emergencies. Calls received through 112 will be digitally recorded, documented and mon itored, enabling better coordination and faster response. During the transition period, citizens have also been advised not to con tact individual fire station landlines to report emer gencies, as these numbers will now be used exclu sively for official and ad ministrative purposes.

Callers have been urged to provide clear de tails about the nature of the emergency, the ex act location, nearby landmarks and their contact details to help ensure a prompt response. The Directorate has also cautioned the pub lic against making false, frivolous or non-emer gency calls, warning that misuse of the helpline could delay assistance to people facing genuine emergencies. The Directorate has sought the cooperation and support of citizens to ensure a smooth tran sition and the effective functioning of the inte grated ERSS-112 emergency-response system.
