Mormugao: DJ music will not be permitted during Ganesh Visarjan processions across Mormugao taluka this year, with authorities deciding that only Dindi Pathaks accompanied by traditional musical instruments will be allowed.
The decision was taken at a joint meeting convened by Mormugao Deputy Collector Prataprao Gaonkar and Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar on Wednesday to review preparations for the upcoming Ganesh Festival.
Officials from the Police Department, Mormugao Municipal Council and other concerned departments attended the meeting, where various arrangements for the festival and immersion processions were discussed.
Authorities also stressed the need for all Sarvajanik Ganesh pandals to be registered. There are reportedly around 40 public Ganesh pandals in the taluka, but only 16 are currently officially registered.
Devotees were also urged to cooperate with Drishti lifeguards during Ganesh immersion and exercise extreme caution while bursting fireworks to ensure a safe and incident-free festival.
The administration appealed to organisers and devotees to follow the guidelines and cooperate with authorities during the celebrations.
