PORVORIM: Amidst demands from the Opposition, CM Pramod Sawant said that the government is working on reducing excise duty on high-end liquor and also to give benefit to the premium liquor made in Goa.
“We are working on reducing the excise duty,” he said after MLA Vijai Sardesai pointed out how liquor is now quite expensive in Goa compared to some other parts of India including Delhi. He said that the liquor industry, which complements the tourism industry, is facing the hit due to high prices.
Sawant also said that the government has written to the Union Ministry of External Affairs for permission to write to various Indian embassies for promotion of Feni on an international platform.
