PANJIM: A brace by Rohan Pednekar guided Piedade Youth Association to outplay Merces Sports Club 2-0 and to continue winning streak in the Goa Football Association Division III League match played at Agassaim ground, on Thursday.
In the first half, Piedade Youth Association opened the account in the very sixth minute through the efforts of Rohan.
Down by a goal, Merces Sports Club tried their best to find the much-needed equaliser but the Piedade Youth Association was equal to the task.
After some attacking game, Piedade Youth Association doubled their lead in the 26th minute again through the boots of Rohan to complete his brace.
At half time, Piedade Youth Association were leading 2-0.
On resumption of play, Merces Sports Club regrouped with renewed ideas and showed better resistance and also attacked the rival citadel time and again. As the match progressed, Piedade Youth Association also had a good outing and missed two golden opportunities to increase their goal tally as forwards Sneden and Macan failed to hit on target.
Later, Merces Sports Club goalkeeper made three good saves to thwart the Piedade Youth Association’s goal-bound attacks.
