MARGAO: Accused Agnelo Gaonkar, resident of Arlem, Raia arrested for the murder of his brother Jose Caitano Goankar and destroying evidence, under section 302, 201 IPC has been remanded to 12 days police custody.
He was produced before the local court here on Monday which remanded him to 12 days police custody for the purpose of investigation.
The Maina-Curtorim police had on Monday arrested accused Agnelo after his brother Seby filed a complaint of murder. Accused used crowbar to hit the deceased Caitano on the head and face. Thereafter, Agnelo tried to destroy evidence by concealing the blood stained shirt of the deceased and the towel used to wipe the floor near a bamboo fence of the property.
The police have recovered the crow bar used to commit the offence which was kept in the storeroom of the house. Motive for the murder is alleged to be physical harassment of the family by the deceased often under the influence of alcohol.
