Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Subhash Shirodkar has asserted that the leadership issue raised by the coalition partners stands resolved and exuded confidence that all demands made by the G-7 group will be discussed and redressed at the next round of coordination committee meeting in Mumbai on March 31
During an informal chant with newsmen, Shirodkar expressed confidence that all issues raised by the coalition partners will be satisfactorily redressed on March 31.
Admitting that the leadership issue was one of the demands raised by the G-7, Shirodkar categorically said that the issue has been sorted out now. “I don’t know at what level, the issue has been resolved, but certainly the leadership issue is sorted out”, he asserted.
Saying that he did not foresee any problem for the passage of the Goa Budget, the GPCC president also ruled out the possibility of the dissolution of the Goa Legislative Assembly due to any instability factor. “If I go by what has transpired yesterday and today, the Budget should be through without any difficulty”, he said.
“No doubt, there is some resentment expressed in some quarters, but things are being sorted out after the Coordination meeting. When we meet again on March 31, I am confident all issues will be sorted out to the satisfaction of all”, he added.
When his attention was drawn to the statement of NCP leader Jose Philip that major demands raised by the G-7 remain unresolved, Shirodkar said “no doubt, the group had put forth certain demands. One cannot say everything is goody goody immediately”.
When asked how the Congress would tackle the demand from the G-7 seeking an apology from the PWD Minister Churchill Alemao and Cortalim MLA Mauvin Godinho, the GPCC president said “this question did not come during the last meeting”, adding that all issues will be dealt with at the March 31 meeting of the coordination committee.
Asked to react to statements made by Congress leaders that the Congress party is ready to go to the polls, the GPCC president said “I don’t think any MLA has meant dissolution and going to the polls. One has to understand that the current term of the Assembly expired two years from now. The MLAs have to serve the people and the state during their term in office”, he added.
