PANJIM: A Vasco-based NGO has urged the Department of Women and Child Development to suspend one of the members of Child Welfare Committee in South Goa for allegedly fraudulently preparing document to use in judicial proceeding to protect a rape accused.
The delegation submitted a memorandum to Director Sunil Masurkar informing the mother of the rape victim had filed a complaint at Harbour police station based on which the accused was arrested.
The petition highlighted that the CWC member along with the relatives of the accused prepared an affidavit on March 13, 2014 on the promise of getting the minor girl married to the accused. The mother-daughter duo was then asked to sign the documents.
“When the minor girl was asked about her age she informed (name of the member) that she was 17 years. The mother shared that she would like to consult, but she was not allowed. The mother and the daughter, and the relatives of the accused were taken to a notary in Vasco in a common vehicle. The mother and the victim were made to sign the document at the notary’s office without being informed what it is about. The member signed the document as a witness,” the petition reads.
It further says that the mother managed to get a photo copy of the affidavit which mentioned her daughter’s age as 18 years and that she is ‘staying with the accused since last one year’.
on her own free will’ and a complaint in this regard was also filed at Vasco Police Station.
