CII interacts with Belgian delegation

PANJIM: Confederation of Indian Industry – Goa organized a Round Table Interactive session with Belgian Delegation on March 26, 2014 at Goa Marriott Resort. 
Karl Van den Bossche, Consul General, Consulate General of the Kingdom of Belgium led the delegation with Tom Vermeulen, Trade and Investment Commissioner of Flanders, Flanders Investment and Trade and Jean-Guy Schattens, Trade and Investment Commissioner, Wallonia Foreign Trade and Investment Agency (AWEX). 
Karl Van den Bossche, Consul General, Consulate General of the Kingdom of Belgium said the paramount of the meeting is to promote Belgium as a gateway to the European Union Market which gives access to over 500 million consumers. He proposed to get a Free – Trade Agreement with the Government of Goa to facilitate Belgian investment in the State.
Student exchange program were discussed. Goa Institute of Management discussed about collaboration with the Universities in Belgium to structure specialized programs for the students in Diamond industry and Health Service Industry and that the Belgian Universities could possibly offer sponsorship for Indian students. The Belgian delegation invited investments in Education by Indian companies.
Belgium has the finest quality logistics; the Belgium Universities could partner with the Indian Universities and run new Training Programs / courses specializing in Logistics, Biopharmaceutical, Technical / Vocational skills etc.
CII Goa agreed to lead the initiative of developing the port with Belgium. The industry members discussed on the various collaborations that the industry can have with country through joint ventures, partnerships, acquisitions etc.
Tourism was another industry which can be encouraged. The tourists visiting Goa can be increased if the visa hindrances are solved. CII planned to create a special taskforce under CII Tourism Panel to work on this increase in European tourists.
