Karnataka village welcomes court order

PONDA: While pro-Kannada associations indulged in violence over the order of the Mhadei Water Dispute Tribunal, rejecting Karnataka’s plea for diverting 7.5 TMC of water from Mhadei basin to Malaprabha River, a village in the neighbouring State has welcomed the decision.

The people of Kankumbi village in Karnataka welcomed the decision of water tribunal saying it saved their village from destruction. Kiran Gawade, a social activist from Kankumbi, said he was happy that Karnataka’s plea was rejected, as diverting water from Mhadei basin to Malaprabha River is dangerous for Kankumbi and nearby villages.
