MARGAO: Stating that there are no further steps specified in the Act to decide upon further actions to be taken pertaining to the files of corruption charges referred to the Governor, Goa Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai on Tuesday said it was up to the new government and political parties to look into the matter and act accordingly in order to give more powers to the Governor while dealing with such files.

He was speaking on the sidelines of the 12th National Voters’ Day which was held at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao.
The Governor also said all the files pending before the Raj Bhavan were disposed off before the announcement of the general Assembly elections. However, he stressed on the files related to corruption charges and which were referred to him, but he has dismissed those files on the technical grounds.
“I want to stress on the system of referring the files pertaining to corruption charges to Raj Bhavan under the Act number 62. However, what I found is that there are no further steps mentioned in the Act”, he said.
The Governor said he is aware of the fact that the Supreme Court in one of its judgments has stated that the Governor has no right to act further if it is not stated in clear pens to take next steps.
“So files referred by our system have been dismissed on the technical grounds,” he informed.
