The group has claimed that Naik was a part of the discussions on floating a political franchise and he later had second thoughts about including politicians in the party, even after it was made clear that they would not be included.
GFG has also claimed that politicians are rattled by its decision to go political and are trying to divide the members.
“GFG stands firm on its decision not to take on existing or past MLAs and MPs as candidates, but to give a chance to activists, intellectuals, and other passionate grassroots leaders fighting to protect Goa. This message has sent shivers up the spines of MLAs and MPs as they fear that GFG’s movement to clean Goa’s political garbage has found favor with the people of Goa. They are busy putting hurdles in our path, and some even warned of dire consequences if we go ahead with our agenda,” said Kennedy Afonso, GFG president.
GFG has also claimed that many village groups and individuals from across Goa want to tie up with the group to get rid of corrupt political forces that are responsible for the degradation of Goa.
“Prashant Naik has also been demanding that the GFG ticket for Cuncolim should be given to him, which we flatly refused. GFG wants candidates to be selected by the people and not by the party, a process which GFG will start in all villages following the convention at Lohia Maidan after Christmas,” added Kennedy.
