A large number of locals gathered at Aldona Market near the Edward Soares Statue and marched with their candles in hand. People of all ages participated in this mark of protest.

Amarnath Panjikar said, “We are here to demand a safe environment to women in our country. When such a brutal incident occurs, it is the responsibility of the government, police, and authorities to provide justice.”

“The government should put in place a system to provide a safe environment to the women in our country. Such incidents spread insecurity amongst the people and occur due to the failure of the system, which needs to be corrected”, said a resident.
