The buffalo farmers from Cunchelim just leave their animals on the road in the morning. The huge animals with large horns often block the road and refuse to budge. Some violent ones even keep charging at motorists and commuters if they try to drive them away. In the morning, children have a tough time crossing the road with the animals blocking it and ending up late to school. The same is the fate of office goers and others in the morning and late evenings.
Often two wheeler riders are knocked down by the aggressive animals. With the destruction of green cover, constructions cropping up in place of trees and the dwindling grazing grounds on the Marna hills, the animals have to walk along the road to forage for greens in the fields almost 5 kilometers till they reach their destination. No amount of honking, booing and shooing helps. All that the panchayat of Marna-Siolim has to do is to issue notices to the buffalo farmers and either ban them from using the grazing ground in Marna fields within its jurisdiction or ask them to mind their animals on the road and back home. Let better counsel prevail.
