Headmistress moves HC after her advance bail plea dismissed

PANJIM: The headmistress of a high school in Taleigao, booked for assaulting a minor student, has moved the High Court of Bombay at Goa challenging the Children’s Court order dismissing her anticipatory bail plea.
The juvenile court had this week dismissed her plea seeking pre-arrest relief citing that she has been known for repeat offences in the school. The High Court is expected to hear her petition on January 1, 2019 which is when Panjim police have been asked to submit their reply.
The headmistress has been charged with assaulting a Class VIII student with a steel ruler as per a complaint lodged by the victim boy’s father on December 15. An FIR under Section 323 (causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 8 of Goa Children’s Act was registered after which the headmistress moved the court seeking anticipatory bail.
