MARGAO: Brazilian player and captain of Chennaiyin FC Elano Blumer has been charge sheeted by the Margao Town Police for his alleged role in the scuffle during the final of ISL at Fatorda Stadium in December last year.
Statements of at least 15 witnesses in the case have been taken and a 71-page charge sheet has been filed. The charge sheet was filed at the Judicial Magistrate First Class court on Tuesday and a hearing is now awaited.
The police have informed that the medical check report of the FC Goa team co-owner Dattaraj Salgaonkar has also been attached to the charge sheet. According to the investigating officer Police Sub Inspector Vishwajeet Chodankar the statements of at least 15 witnesses, who have seen the scuffle and later the chain of events, have been taken to support the charge sheet.
The court after recording the charge sheet will be issuing a date for hearing wherein the appearance of the players may be sought.
Captain of Chennaiyin FC Elano Blumer was arrested by the Margao Town Police on December 20 following a complaint of FC Goa team co-owner Dattaraj Salgaokar after he alleged that Elano got into a confrontation with him while he was with the coach Zico. The Police Control room at Fatorda registered the complaint under Section 341, 504, 323 of IPC for wrongful restraint, abuse and other sections on the basis of the complaint. The sections being cognizable offences the international player had to file bail application late night.
The accused player was asked to surrender his passport which he refused. Advocate Rajiv Gomes came to the rescue of Elano late night and assisted him to file a bail petition. Elano was in the police station till late night with two of his team colleagues, the officers of Reliance Sports and also the team managers of Chennaiyin FC.
