PANJIM: KPMG Advisory Services Pvt Ltd will officially initiate drafting of the Tourism Master Plan, as the Tourism department is expected to ink an agreement with the global consultancy firm next week. The plan intends to develop a vision and perspective planning for the next 25 years and will be drafted by consulting all stakeholders and government departments linked to the tourism sector.
According to the agreement, the firm will be given 38 weeks to prepare the module of the plan and five years for its implementation.
“The Civil Aviation Ministry, departments of panchayats, PWD and Art and Culture are among other government departments, along with all stakeholders, which will be roped-in for their views and suggestions,” Tourism Director Ameya Abhyankar told Herald.
He stressed that there will be a pragmatic implementation approach while highlighting three aspects – transparency, participation and inclusiveness during the entire study. “Even the smallest person contributing to the tourism industry will be taken into consideration,” he said.
A study on development of tourism of different States and countries will also be undertaken without traveling to these places, the director said.
Tourism officials said the Master Plan will consider the impact of tourism on the Goan economy besides focusing on preserving the social, environmental and cultural fabric of the State.
“It will develop a vision for tourism in Goa over the short-term (five-year), medium-term (15-year) and long-term (25-year) as it is being planned with a vision for the next 25 years,” an official said.
