MAPUSA: In a swift operation, the Colvale police successfully rescued two minor girls who had been kidnapped. The girls, aged 12 and 15, were found locked in a house in Hubli.
The accused individuals had lured the girls with promises of a better life.

According to Mapusa SDPO Jivba Dalvi, the police received a complaint from the father of one of the girls on May 29, alleging that his 12-year-old daughter had been kidnapped. Another complaint was lodged on the same day by another woman, reporting the kidnapping of her 15-year-old daughter. The police registered two FIRs under Section 363 of the IPC and Section 8 of the Goa Children’s Act.
A dedicated team was formed, and after thorough investigation and technical surveillance, the police discovered that the girls were in Hubli, Karnataka. A police team, led by PSI Mandar Parab, travelled to Hubli and sought assistance from the Kasabapeth Police Station. With reliable information, they located a house in Tippunagar, Nekarnagar road, where the girls were found locked up.
Further investigation led to the apprehension of Naveed Ahmad Paniband, who confessed to bringing the girls to the house with the help of his friend Tousif Killedar, also known as Munna. Both accused individuals, residents of Hubli, were arrested. The police also recovered all the gold ornaments that the girls had handed over to the accused, who in turn had sold them to goldsmiths in Hubli.
The successful rescue operation was carried out under the close supervision of SP North Porvorim Nidhin Valson, SDPO Mapusa Jivba Dalvi, PI Colvale Somnath L. Mahaji, and PI Shitakant Naik of the Mapusa police station. The case is being further investigated by PSI Mandar Parab and PSI Kunal Naik.
