PANJIM: The Department of Town and Country Planning (TCP) has circulated the concept paper on ‘Transfer of Developmental Rights’ , through which those seeking to retain their old houses and green patches would be incentivised, to the State government for approval.
Speaking to Herald, Chief Town Planner Dr ST Putturaju said the concept paper has been circulated to Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and Town and Country Planning Minister Vijai Sardesai, for approval. “It has been drafted as an idea put forth by the CM and Minister during the meeting last month,” he said.
During the first meeting on the Regional Plan 2021, chaired by Parrikar and attended by Sardesai, the government mooted the concept of incentivising efforts to retain old houses or green patches in the State. The concept would be part of the RP21.
The government is trying to create a concept by which if one has an old house with greenery and wants to retain the same there will be incentives, which can thereafter be sold to builders and the builder will be able to use these incentives in designated areas where vertical growth would be allowed.
“This is a progressive idea which is not there in the entire country. We want to set a standard in terms of preservation and environment,” Sardesai had said.
