MARGAO: Suraj Myageri, accused of conspiring with his lover Mangala Sidnal, and murdering her husband Vishwanath at Benaulim, has been remanded to nine days in police custody. Mangala alias Vaibhavi was remanded to seven days in police custody on Wednesday. With the father dead and mother in jail, their five-year-old daughter is currently under the care of her maternal grandmother.
Suraj, apprehended in Kadoli, Belagavi by Colva police, was brought to Goa late Wednesday night.
Police investigations have uncovered that on the eve of Holi, March 23, Suraj visited the residence of the deceased under the pretext of contracting a painting job using Vishwanath’s contacts as a tile fitter. Vishwanath’s body was found by his mother on Tuesday afternoon.
Furthermore, the police have recovered the scooter belonging to the deceased, which was used by the two accused to flee the scene after committing the murder, along with the young child of the deceased. Additionally, some other incriminating evidence has also been recovered, according to police sources.
