RAICHO-AMBO-RAIA: Goa’s U-9 State Champion Ethan Vaz played outstanding chess to finish in 10th place in the Open Category at the National U-9 Chess Championship, in Ahmedabad , Gujarat, recently.
The tournament was closely contested by 263 players including the respective champions of various states of India.
Amongst players aged 8 years or below, Ethan secured third place.
Being just 7 years old, Ethan still has one more opportunity next year to become the U-9 National champion.
It can be recalled that last year, Ethan had made Goa proud by winning the 13th Prize at the National U–7 Chess Championships.
In the girls category, which was contested by 163 players, Goa’s Shriya Patil bagged the 19th place.
A total of 14 players from Goa participated in the tournament.
