PANJIM: Directorate of Art & Culture in association with Sant Sohirobanath Ambiye Tercentenary Celebration Committee will be releasing a Special Postal cover with Special Cancellation on Sant Sohirobanath Ambiye through the Department of Posts, Govt of India, today, Wednesday, at 10.30 am at the Black Box of Kala Academy, Campal, here, followed by inauguration of Sant Sohirobanath Ambiye Pustak Pradarshan to be held at 11 am at Darya Sangam, KA.
The Government has announced the year-long celebration of Tercentenary Birth of Sant Sohirobanath Ambiye (1714- 1792) by conducting various activities at government level as well as supporting private initiative to recognize his contribution towards social upliftment.
The pustak pradarshan (book exhibition) will be open from January 21 to 25 from 9 am to 9 pm. Around 60 publishers/vendors have confirmed participation for the exhibition. The organizers have requested book lovers and general public to visit the exhibition to inculcate reading habits for better tomorrow.
The exhibition will display all books of all subjects, including history, geography, social science, children’s books, science books, literary classics and drama and poetry.
Sant Sohirobanath Ambiye was a great Goan spiritual visionary who stood for relentless pursuit of knowledge, wisdom and building a good character. He was born in Palaye village of Pernem.
