MARGAO: The District Collector came to the rescue of 25 Goan youth stranded in a Colva hotel due to pending swab tests results, on Tuesday.
As the entire test results later came negative, the youth were stamped for home quarantine and sent home.

Margao Shadow Council Convenor Savio Coutinho informed that the South Goa District Collector Ajit Roy intervened to check upon the pending swab test reports of the 25 youth stranded in a Colva hotel. The reports of all the 25 came negative, and were stamped for home quarantine till August 7 and allowed to go home.
It may be recalled that the 25 youth had returned via Gulf Flight on July 25 and since then were lodged in a hotel at Colva. As their reports didn’t come even after three days, the stranded youth contacted Margao Shadow Council Convenor Savio Coutinho for help as most of them had to returned empty handed as they had lost their jobs over four months back.
Javed Shaik and Alleluia Fernandes stated that the hotel had taken away their passports and had literally held them hostage over there. As 90 per cent of them were unemployed for several months in the Gulf, they were empty handed and were very stressed with the thought of the hotel bills. They expressed their gratitude to the Margao Shadow Council all the help rendered to them.
Coutinho appraised the District Collector over the delay in reports of the people returning from foreign countries and urged for the reports of such Goans returning from abroad to be tested within 48 hours.
