Following appeals by Greens, Chicalim Parish priest, extraction of ‘Tisreo’, ‘Hadde’ stopped at Vareg Island
Chicalim Parish Priest, Scientist Dr. Fr Bolmax Pereira appealed to the public not to venture into Zuari river bed to extract clams and oyster shells and warned that rampant removal of the same could lead to irreparable damage to marine life in the Sancoale- Chicalim bay. He made this plea in a video message, where he added that if people keep away, it will help in breeding more clams/oysters, which are currently being removed from their natural eco-systems
