It is quite obvious that our pristine Goa is going for good if not gone already. With neither the village panchayats nor the municipal authorities showing any interest in tackling the garbage menace, our beaches, paddy fields, rivers, springs, ponds, our village paths etc have been reduced to just being receptacles for garbage. On top of that stray cattle and dogs feast on the muck and spread it around creating unhygienic conditions.
It seems the government is apathetic to the situation since there is no money to be made by the mantris in cleaning up Goa. Infact anyone pointing out lacunae which adversely impacts brand ‘Tourist Paradise Goa’ is immediately branded anti-Goan/anti-national and countered vociferously by sarkari mavens ; why even FIRs are filed against them.

How long can the government go on living in denial and burying it’s head in the sand like an ostrich with regards to troubles plaguing the state. If the problem is not acknowledged how will we seek solutions and I am not even talking about drugs, prostitution, heinous crimes like rapes and murders, kidnapping, purse snatching, and fatal accidents taking place almost on a daily basis.
