PANJIM: A postponed starred question which could have embarrassed the government on Tuesday was not taken up for discussion as Valpoi MLA Vishwajit Rane, who submitted the question, was absent when the question was called out.
The postponed query which was the first on the list on Tuesday pertained to the Goa government spending Rs 25 lakh on a programme organised by a Tamil Nadu unit of BJP at Madurai on April 28 and 29, 2012.

The written answer to the question revealed that Manohar Parrikar as chief minister approved on April 20, 2012, expenditure of Rs 25 lakh for the convention Kamal Sangamam through the Information and Publicity department which he heads.
The question here was whether public funds could be spent for political purpose. The answer revealed that the TN BJP unit Party’s programme was intended to be relevant to developmental issues in TN.
