PANJIM: Saputara, a hill station in Gujarat, witnessed the inauguration of the Saputara Monsoon Festival. The month-long festival, which concludes on September 3, was inaugurated by Ganpatsinh Vasava, Minister of State for Tourism along with Kamlesh Patel, chairman, TCGL at Saputara Lake, Boat House Ground. Saputara is nestled in the picturesque Dang District and the densely wooded hills of the Sahayadris.
This is the ninth edition of the popular event having an array of activities including exhibitions, adventure activities, cultural programmes, food festival, interactive games, competitions, flash mobs and more. Tourists are also taken on guided tours to Saputara Lake, Gandhi Shikar, Echo Point, Valley View Point, Gira, Girmal and Mayadevi waterfalls, Shabri Dham, Pampa Sarovar, Pandav Gufa, Unai Temple, Sitvan, Rajat Praap, Tridhara near Dhupgarh, Hatgadh Fort, forest nursery, Pandava caves and tribal museum during the festival.
Kamlesh Patel, Chairman, TCGL said, “Every year, the tourist flow goes up phenomenally during the Monsoon Festival. Saputara is beautiful during the monsoon and people love coming here. We have special tour packages for tourists arriving from different parts of the country. While this festival promotes the beauty of Saputara as a lovely monsoon destination, it also generates income for the locals who benefit from this.”
