Turn your negatives into positives

It’s our common experience that a negative attitude robs us of our joy of life. The main cause of negative attitude is wrong beliefs about life or certain aspects of it. You see life through your beliefs and if your beliefs are negative, you will see your life as unhappy or downright pointless. Therefore to change such an attitude you need to change your beliefs.
Others – be it your family or friends, cannot affect how you feel. Only you can decide how you feel. This may seem unreal to those who hear it for the first time, but you and only you can decide how to react to anything that happens to you. You do not have to get upset when someone tries to get you upset. You can choose to remain calm or even happy.
The consequences of negative attitude is that it shortens your life. The more often you become angry, upset or frustrated the less you will have left to live. This seems extreme, but that’s how it is. You are shortening your life every time you let negative emotions overtake you.
Your past actions determine your future. If you constantly moan and are dissatisfied with your circumstances, in future you are sure to meet with more of the things you are unhappy about. The more you complain the more you will find things to complain about. Your irregular mood affects other people and you. You should never make others feel bad because by doing so you are contributing not only to your own misery, but to the unhappiness of others too. Every cause has an effect, and so your negative attitude produces negative circumstances. Most people think it is the other way round, but that’s not the case. Your thinking causes your circumstances.
It is certainly possible to change negative attitude if you are determined to do so. If you lived life seeing only the dark side of it, you cannot turn this around in a day. By taking small and constant steps however, you can gradually become a happier person. The most effective way to change your mental state is by understanding the outcome of negativity. Carefully look at the consequences of negative attitude and they will serve as reminders as soon as soon as your mood goes down. You will think twice before getting upset, angry or depressed. And yes, you cause your own mood and you can change it by simply focusing on the good aspects of your life or imagining something positive. You are not at the mercy of the different kinds of the negative feelings that come to you when you least expect. You can control how you feel.
What causes your negative attitude? It may be that you live with a person who constantly ruins your mood or it may also be something to do with your past. May be you were deeply upset with what happened to you in the past and you have not recovered from that experience. Think that incident is long gone, and you should not live in the shadow of it. Your past can only have influence on your present if you let it. Realize, your whole power is in the present moment.
