It is observed that a massive landslide has taken place along the Verna-Harbour highway, a bit further from the flyover at Baina beach. Several huge boulders are seen lying by the roadside. The soil here has become loose.
The boulders on the hillock have developed deep cracks as seen in the photo and are in imminent danger of falling onto the road below. This could result in a disaster as it is a major highway with both light and heavy vehicles passing along the road. From the photo it is also observed that there is a house at the top of the hillock. Another landslide at this spot could bring the structure down onto the road. It is absolutely necessary to take remedial steps on a war footing, probably by way of building a retention wall, in order to prevent any eventuality.
