PORVORIM: The six panchas of Penha de Franca have served a notice of no confidence against the Sarpanch Ms Safar Fadte and Deputy Sarpanch Swapnil Chodanker.
The signatories to the motion are: Ms Radhika Sawant, Rajesh Volvoiker, Umesh Fadte, Subhash Kalangutker, Ganashyam Naik and Visranti Dessi.
The move comes in the wake of the notices issued by Sarpanch Mrs Safar Phadte against illegal constructions and the illegal kiosks in the panchayat area.
Soon after the notice was issued, Radhika Sawant, who was a member of the ruling group, disassociated herself from the ruling group and joined the opposition group.
Ironically, the notice of no confidence accuses the sarpanch and her deputy of encouraging illegal constructions.
Safar Fadte told Herald that as decided in the gram sabha held on November 29, she had issued notices to illegal constructions as well as illegal kiosks in the panchayat area.
She said that the panchyat had, in fact, issued a circular fixing a site inspection of illegal constructions in wards 1, 2 and 3 and survey number 189/7
