CURCHOREM: Opposition Leader and Quepem MLA Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar criticised the BJP leaders in Goa for fooling the mining dependents with their tall assurances without any positive outcome.
Speaking during the Jan Aakrosh function at Quepem, Kavlekar said that they as an opposition party supported the government to commence the mining operations but the government failed miserably to do so. “What is in their mind we do not know but surely they do not want mining to commence because if anything they want urgently they do within a day and if necessary they do even middle of the night.” said Kavlekar
“We went and sat with Mining dependents at Jantar Mantar as an opposition party but what the ruling party’s MLAs, MPs including cabinet ministers doing there. They must not come there to show their support as they are in the government. Only they must do is to pressurise their own government at the Centre to commence the mining urgently as their assurances and speeches will not solve the problems “added Kavlekar
Strongly attacking the government Kavlekar informed that financial approval is not getting to various projects due to financial constraints. “No funds with the government have meant everything has been paralysed due to non-functioning of state administration. If elections in Goa are held now the BJP’s condition will be worse than Chhattisgarh as they imposed their government on the people by using money power and government machinery” claimed Kavlekar.
Besides GPCC President Girish Chodankar, Cuncolim MLA Clafasio Dias, Mahila Congress President Pratima Coutinho, South Goa District President Joe Dias, South Goa Mahila President Savitri Kavlekar, former Curchorem MLA Domnick Fernandes, M.K. Shaikh, Quepem Municipal Council Chairperson Dayesh Naik and activist Rajan Ghate were present on the occasion.
