Addressing media persons at Codli, the contractors and truck operators complained that the mining company had denied them ore transportation operations at the behest of local politicians and insisted that the State government should intervene in the matter.
They claimed that around 1500 families of truck owners and contractors would be affected if they denied the contract to transport the ore.
The mining dependent contractors and truck operators said that they have submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, stating that first preference should be given to existing contractors.
According to them, the company is starting its operation by transporting around 2.66 lakh tonnes of ore from October 8 onwards.
A delegation of mining dependent contractors and truck operators later met a company official, who informed them that he was acting on company’s directives.
The official, however, assured to add them later to the list of contractors to transport ore, but the mining dependent contractors and truck operators were unsatisfied with the assurance.
