MMC Chairperson Lyndon Monteiro pointed out that there were no footpath encroachments near the Church or area that MMC can control but lamented that the violations were seen on the SGPDA ground.

MMC market inspectors tried to act against these violations where land given for these stalls exceeded the area for which permissions were given. However, the SGPDA contractor raised a dispute, and MMC could not sort out this issue on Sunday, the first day of the fair.

MMC officials also pointed out other problems on the SGPDA ground such as lack of proper toilet facilities, and traffic congestion in the vicinity. It may be recalled that MMC had even formed a committee to ensure such violations didn’t happen this year and the MMC Chairperson has assured to follow up on this matter on Monday.
