PANJIM: Responding to allegations that the State’s politicians are giving Goa Medical College and Hospital a slip when it come to their treatment due to its poor facilities, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane narrated incidents to support the claim that the State-run facility provides the best of medical treatment.
Rane on Tuesday said that he had brought his father, former chief minister and Congress MLA Pratapsingh Rane, to GMC when he complained of burning sensation in the chest.
Going a step further, Rane said that Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida who was initially admitted to a private hospital at Dona Paula was shifted to GMC after his wife and he insisted that they don’t want to continue in the private facility.
“Chief Minister and all the ministers, MLAs have faith in GMC. There are some things which need to be fine tuned, and work is in progress. We have recently brought a young team of doctors who have come from a private hospital to GMC,” he said.
Rane was responding to a media question about the CM’s treatment in Mumbai and later to US, while Almeida was also treated in Kerala and now Power Minister Pandurang Madkaikar who underwent surgery for a brain stroke in Mumbai.
