MARGAO: Crime Branch has added two more offences under section 420 of the IPC and under section 17-A of the Town and Country Planning Act against all the accused involved in the Canacona building collapse case.
The fresh sections were added by the investigating agency following complaints received from a Mumbai-based party, who had booked a flat in the collapsed Ruby Residency building and a complaint from the Chief Town Planner, Panjim. Making a submission before special judge Margao Nutan Sardesai hearing the case, Special Public Prosecutor Sarojini Sardinha said the investigating agency has added the sections in view of complaints received from the party. The decision comes in the wake of a complaint from a native of Mumbai, who accused the absconding builders and the arrested contractor for allegedly deceiving him by dishonestly inducing him to pay Rs 16.86 lakh towards the purchase of a flat in the building which collapsed on January 4. Section 17-A of the Town and Country Planning Act was added after the Chief Town Planner in a statement spoke of violation in respect of the TCP Act, the Special Public Prosecutor stated.
