SALIGAO: St Anthony’s Marna-Siolim got the better of Sinquerim Sports Club 5-2 to advance in the Shanti Morada Soccer Cup, organised by Adarsh YS Saligao, at Saligao ground, on Friday.
At half-time Siolim led by a 1-0 margin, the goal was scored by Videsh Sawant in the 10th minute of play.
Crossing over there was a shower of goals with Manesh Nair doubling the lead for Siolim after the keeper failed to make a clean collection off his strike and the ball rolled into the nets, 2-0.
Sinquerim managed to reduce the margin in the 40th minute of play through Dattaraj Gaonkar only to see Manesh Nair once again increase the lead for St Anthony’s making it 3-1.
Later, Joel Fernandes netted in a brace for the Siolim side to finish off the match at 5-2.
