Cheated investors of coop society hold rally

Protest high-handed approach of law enforcement depts

MARGAO: A massive rally was organised by the cheated investors of Visionary Cooperative Society (VSC) protesting the high handed approach of the Law Enforcement and concerned departments in taking action against the society. The investors, who have lost money in crores of rupees, have complained that neither an FIR has been filed against the offence nor the Society has been asked to shut operations.
The rally that started from Majorda travelled till Margao to the Colva Police Station and further to the Assistant Registrar of Coop Societies office in Margao. Almost 2,500 investors have been allegedly cheated to crores of rupees. The people have complained that the Minister of Cooperation has to intervene into the matter and give relief to the people as it is their lifetime savings. Among the affected are foreigners and widows too who have invested and now say that the future for them is very bleak.
When the people met the Asst Registrar of Coop Societies, PA Parab, said, “The process of appointing the Administrator to the Society has been completed but is held for some changes.”
The people are upset over the MLA Churchill Alemao as he told them that the FIR in the complaint was filed but they were told by the police that no FIR was filed in this case.
