MARGAO: For the first time since the commissioning of the waste treatment plant at Sonsodo, Environment Minister Alina Saldanha will visit the waste dumping site on Tuesday.
Staff and officers of the Goa State Pollution Control Board would also accompany the minister during the visit on Tuesday morning.
While sources said that Ms Saldanha would visit the plant to gather first-hand information about the technology adopted to treat waste, her presence at the site is significant and comes against the backdrop of GSPCB’s request to the Margao civic body to conduct cost-benefit analysis of segregation and capping of the existing waste dumping site.
