PONDA: Clube Sao Minguel de Taleigao beat Socio Cultural Club Loutulim 2-1 in 25th All-Goa St Anne’s Festival Inter-Village Soccer organized by Ponda Footballers at Animal Husbandry ground, Curti-Ponda.
Octavio Miranda and Cedric scored for Taleigao while Revelon reduced the margin for Loutulim. All goals were scored in the first half.
Lotoulim have to blame themselves as after dominating the second half, their forwards could not just tap the ball inside the goal even when the rival goalkeeper was out of position.
Taleigao made the first move as Thomson Fernandes sent a through pass to Volley Vaz but his try was punched out by the keeper. At the other end, Revelon passed to Philip inside the danger zone but he ballooned over from close range.
Taleigao opened the score as Ramesh essayed a long ball to Octavio Miranda who dogged past a defender and placed the ball under the diving keeper from zero angle to make it 1-0. Loutulim could have equalized but Philip Lobo missed to connect the ball with the keeper out of position.
Revelon equalized when his powerful 30-yard shot which dipped inside the goal. In injury time, Anthony sent a diagonal pass to Cedric who placed over the advancing keeper to make it 2-1.
In the second half Revelon, Thomson and Vaz missed easy opportunities either shooting straight into the keeper’s hands or ballooning over. Before the final whistle Vaz missed an easy change with only the keeper at his mercy.
Taleigao will take on the winners of Wilfred Leisure Curtorim and Sporting club of Davorlim. Revelon of Loutulim was declared man-of-match. Ex-chairperson of PMC, Rajendra Shirodkar gave away the prize.
