CURCHOREM: The Truck Owners’ Association of Sesa Goa (Vedanta) Sanvordem and Dharbandora have decided to intensify their agitation by not allowing the company to transport ore from Codli mine to Capxem and Amona jetties till their demands are met.
The decision was taken on Sunday at a meeting held at Kalsai, Dabal wherein they resolved to restart their agitation on Monday by not allowing ore transportation till their demands are met.
Saturday’s meeting between truck owners and the mining company officials in the presence of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar failed, as the company refused to accept the truckers’ demands.
Addressing the meeting in the presence of Sanvordem MLA Deepak Pauskar and Sanguem MLA Prasad Gaonkar, Dharbandora Association president Balaji Gawas said, “We do not have any faith in Chief Minister as he failed to resolve the issue even after five years. I as a president will stop the ore transportation and let the government arrest us. I have full faith that Sanvordem and Sanguem MLAs will be with us in our agitation.”
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Gawas informed that they offered them to work for a separate rate for transporting ore for domestic and export purpose to which they refused.
Later, Sanvordem MLA assured the truck owners to convey their message to the Chief Minister and urge him not to provide police protection for transporting ore. He requested the truck owners to maintain peace and not to create law and order problem.
