Sancorda locals launch morcha on Ponda PS

Want father-son duo arrested for assaulting their neighbour with a koita over a compound wall issue

PONDA: After protesting twice at the Collem Police Station, Sancorda locals on Monday launched a morcha on the Ponda Police Station demanding the arrest of father-son duo in connection with the assault on their neighbour with a koita over a compound wall issue.

They threatened to stage dharnas at Azad Maidan if the police fail to nab the accused immediately. 

According to locals, there is dispute between accused and the victim on compound wall issue. Both Vasu Kudsekar and his son Ravi attacked their neighbour 61-year-old  Vijaykant Girodkar from Battar, Sancorda with a koita last Thursday and are absconding. The victim who was earlier moved to the Goa Medical College and Hospital at Bambolim is now undergoing treatment at Piliem Dharbandora Hospital.

Collem PI Prajoth Fadte said efforts are on to nab the accused. 

Meanwhile the Battar-Sancorda locals met Ponda DySP demanding that the accused be arrested immediately.

Locals said the DySP has promised them that the accused will be arrested in two days. 

The locals claimed that the accused are influential persons and hence the police have failed to arrest them.
