ELLA: Dempo SC scored a narrow 2-1 win over Goan FC in the GFA Airarabia U-18 League match played at Ella ground, on Sunday.
Dempo SC started the match on an attacking note and shot into the lead through Altroy Rodrigues in the 30th minute, however the young Golden Eagles failed to defend their citadel and conceded soon in the 42nd minute through Goan FC’s Jovito Dias.
Just when it looked like the match would end in a 1-1 draw, Dempo SC re-grouped and went on to score yet another goal through Kimran Dias in the 76th minute.
In another match playes, at Artificial Turf, Fatorda, Sporting Clube de Goa blanked Churchill Bros SC 4-0.
In the one-sided affair, the initial part of the game was restricted to midfield play however Sporting Clube de Goa started attacking at the half-hour mark and managed to find the breakthrough in the 34th minute as Stendly Fernandes scored. The striker went on to score yet again in the add on time of the first-half making it 2-0.
Post resumption, Sporting Clube de Goa started from where they left off and scored once again in the 70th minute through hat-trick hero Stendly Fernandes.
Lloyd Mascarenhas also added his name to the sore sheet in the 80+2 minute to take the tally to 4-0.
Meanwhile at Sirsaim ground, Sesa FA and Salgaocar FC played out a goalless draw.
