The Arvind Kejriwal rule in New Delhi is turning out to be a model that is being lapped in States like Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh and Goa could be a State waiting to embrace the party with the Congress and the ruling BJP dispensation displaying ineptitude during the COVID-19 crisis and even before it.
The Congress is in shambles in India and it’s functioning in Goa has been shambolic with the party losing the trust of voters and the party hierarchy unable to or unwilling to right the wrong that has been plaguing the party and thereby allowing AAP a good platform to step on .

The local elections in Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh are an indication that the Congress model is an obituary of the party and the anointment of AAP under Kejriwal with the latter’s performance in the six key cities of the two States.
The two States of Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh are big demographically and yet AAP under Kejriwal managed to make inroads in both with the party winning one seat in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s parliamentary constituency of Varanasi and Uttar Pradesh (UP) CM Yogi Adityanath.
AAP entered the UP panchayat elections for the first time and fielded candidates for nearly all posts and finished ahead of the Congress as the main opposition to the BJP in the State. AAP won 83 Zilla Panchayat seats, around 300 village Pradhan seats and 232 Block development Committee seats with around 40 lakh voters showing their allegiance to the party.
AAP made its electoral presence in Goa by winning the Zilla Panchayat seat in Benaulim and came close in a few others. With elections a few months away and the electorate disgusted with the predatory behaviour of the BJP Government and the spineless Congress in the Opposition, the Kejriwal Delhi model looks like a dish being prepared for the taste buds of the Goan electorate.
The Kejriwal government in New Delhi revolves around the axis of a corruption free government, education reforms, affordability of electricity and availability of consumable water to name a few.
Goa has been going through an electoral crisis for want of choice of party, reliable candidates and an alternative party. After having trusted the Congress for years, the people fiddled with the BJP and realised that they were being served the same wine in a new bottle with promises being broken and U-turns being the new mantra.
AAP is just what Goa could be waiting for because the local parties are unable to carry the purse of startups. That the Congress is unable to stand up to the BJP became clear after the party failed to form the government despite winning with more MLAs than the BJP. The defection made the picture even dirtier and has given AAP an unconscious fillip with the electorate left with little other choice.
The local election results in UP and Gujarat and the political shenanigans in Goa should be looked as an unexpected invite to the Kejriwal model in Delhi to Goa which keeps its people in mind through good governance a government that has its people in mind at all times.
