Ponda Police on Tuesday arrested three youth from Ponda for allegedly attempting to kidnap a 13-year-old girl from Ponda.
Ponda police have identified the accused as Yogiraj Digambar Kamat, Navesh Mazgaonkar and Sarvesh Jaiwant Kamat. Police have also attached Maruti Swift car (GA-05-B-3794), which was used by the accused.
According to Ponda Police, the incident occurred on Tuesday at about 3.30 pm when the girl was proceeding for her tuition at Silvanagar-Ponda. The three youths forcibly tried to lift the girl, but the courageous girl succeeded in escaping from the three youth. The girl took shelter in a nearby house.
In the meantime, locals managed to detain the three youths and were later handed over to Ponda police. PSI Sanjay Dalvi is investigating the case under the supervision of PI C L Patil.
