Luciano D’Costa said “It’s a shame that a person of Antonio Clovis Da Costa caliber is being sidelined & really fail to understand on what merit Ex MLA Benjamin Silva is being admitted. Adv Antonio Clovis Da Costa has done all the hard work in Velim Constituency”
Dammy Coutinho, another prominent resident said, “(If he’s denied a ticket) it will be totally unjustifiable and morally incorrect. Adv. Antonio Clovis da Costa has done a lot of groundwork in Velim. A young, dynamic, well-educated n down to earth person. His party is doing great injustice to the people of the Velim constituency. His leadership qualities are exemplary.”
And the respected Fransisco Miranda summed it up beautifully by saying “The rich historical constituency of Velim produced revolutionary leaders like Dr. Juliao Menezes who started the civil disobedience movement against Salazar’s dictatorial regime under the aegis of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia and this fighting spirit was seen to be emulated by an enterprising Antonio Clovis Da Costa who is a bright potential legislator, who would have contributed to Goa’s progress and development.”
