‘Ghar Wapsi’ for Vijai, Sudin?

Sources reveal the two have met BJP top leaders, have been promised Cabinet berths again

PANJIM: Almost two months after being unceremoniously dropped from the State Cabinet, former deputy chief ministers Vijai Sardesai and Sudin Dhavalikar are vying for a comeback.

The two were dropped from the Pramod Sawant early this year.

While Sudin was dropped 10 days after Manohar Parrikar’s death on March 27, Vijai along with his team was sacked on July 13 after 10 Congress MLAs switched over to the BJP, which strengthen their tally to 27 in 40-member Assembly.

Sudin’s all out praise of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Prime Minister Narendra Modi was clear cut indication that “something is cooking.”

Sudin is close to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and sources reveal that the minister is keen on bringing the MGP leader back in the saddle.

On the other hand, highly-placed sources revealed that Goa Forward Supremo Vijai Sardesai met BJP national president Amit Shah in Delhi, before he left for UK tour. He is scheduled to return on September 19.

His meeting with Amit Shah was facilitated by the BJP national leader B L Santosh, sources revealed.

Sources further informed that Sardesai has been promised a cabinet berth but on condition of merger with the BJP.

Interestingly, whether Sudin has also been informed about the same is not yet known.

Sources further revealed that the two may make a comeback in the Cabinet before Dussehra.

While there is clear indication of Cabinet reshuffle, everybody in the ruling are mum on who would be dropped?

When asked to comment on this, Goa Forward vice-president Durgadas Kamat said, “I have no idea. Our chief is abroad and I need to speak to him before commenting”.
