VASCO: Mormugao Municipal Council Chief Officer Deepali Naik as well as Chairperson Deepak Naik on Friday filed a police complaint against Vasco city ward Councillor Krishna alias Daji Salkar and his supporters for harassing abusing the chief officer using filthy language and gestures.

According to the information, the complaints were lodged following high voltage confrontation drama by a mob led by Salkar at around 12 noon.

Deepali claimed that Salkar along with his supporters forcibly entered into her cabin and started demanding explanation as to why she has been selectively targeting his supporters by serving notices on illegal kiosks and houses of his supporters while other people are left out.

“They claimed that I have removed an illegal kiosk belonging to Salkar supporters from Mangoor junction. I tried to explain them that we have started extensive drive against the illegal handcarts/kiosks which has been obstructing traffic, but they were in no mood to listen... but (started) using filthy language against me. I had to call the police to control the situation,” Deepali told Herald.

Police registered offences against Salkar under various Sections of IPC.

In her complaint to Vasco police, Deepali claimed that “Councillor Krishna Salkar and his supporters used filthy language and gestures and wrongfully shouted slogans inside my cabin, raised their hands to hit with intension to create problem and thereby hampered the work of a public servant. Also they forcibly gathered inside my chamber and started using filthy words in spite of directions by me to leave the cabin.”

“I have decided that I would forward the FIR copy to the office of DMA seeking action against the Councillor Krishna Salkar as he being an elected representative of the council, he is trying to support illegal kiosk operators and is also trying to use public force to refrain us for taking action against illegal kiosks,” she said.

A similar complaint has also been lodged by Chairperson Deepak Naik before Vasco police against Salkar and his supporters for unofficially and unlawfully entering the cabin of Chief Officer and for abusing her as well as another councillor Sridhar Mardolkar.

“We had decided to remove illegal kiosks from area at the new MES gate in Mangoor as the same was obstructing traffic. The action was taken as per provision laid down under Municipal Act. However, one of our councillors apparently today came forward not only to support the illegality but used offensive language against the Chief Officer. I therefore demand that the Vasco police should initiate stringent action against Salkar and his supporters by arresting all of them for obstructing a government officer on duty within a period of seven day. Also, we have decided to move DMA seeking disqualification of Councillor Krishna Salkar,” he said.

Meanwhile speaking to reporters, Councillor Krishna Salkar alleged that after assembly elections, the chief officer has been acting on the direction of local politician, targeting all those people who had supported him as independent candidate in the recently concluded assembly polls. He said that, recently, the chief officer removed an illegal kiosk from Mangoor which is owned by his supporters while others were left out in the same vicinity. Salkar, therefore, has decided that he would soon write to chief minister complaining about the actions of Chief Officer Deepali Naik.
