VASCO: Disappointed that their demand for changing the party candidate for Mormugao constituency was not heeded to by the BJP leadership, over 1000 workers have decided to revolt against the party and pledged their support to Congress candidate Sankalp Amonkar, on Sunday.

The decision was taken at the public meeting called by the rebel BJP workers at Headland Sada.

Addressing the gathering, MMC Councillors Nilesh Navelkar and Bhavna Bhonsle burst out in anger against Milind Naik and accused him of having played dirty politics with the BJP workers from Mormugao.

They claimed that Naik even failed to resolve the WISL workers’ issue due to which hundreds of WISL workers who are still active BJP members had to face undue hardships.

Some speakers also accused Naik of working against his own party by supporting an Independent candidate contesting against Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida.

They claimed that, it was Naik who demolished poor people’s houses at Baina, while the Congress candidate Sankalp Amonkar spent his energy to save the structures. They therefore decided that they would revolt against BJP by rejecting Naik and will support Amonkar for the forthcoming polls.
