2 killed in Cuncolim, Verna accidents

CUNCOLIM: Two persons died while two others sustained injuries in separate accidents reported in Cuncolim and Verna respectively. 

According to Cuncolim police, in the accident reported at Demani, Cuncolim, two Kolkata natives - 26-year-old Sagnika Datta and pillion rider Ramesh Shah were proceeding to Canacona on their rented scooter. On reaching Demani, Cuncolim, a Tata Winger dashed against their scooter. The impact was such that Sagnika sustained serious injuries and was shifted to the Balli Primary Health Centre and was declared dead by the doctors on duty. Ramesh sustained minor injuries.

In the second accident reported at Verna, 36-year-old Mohammad Sikandar Khan of Zuarinagar was killed when a car driven by Hossiya Clecy Fernandes dashed against his two-wheeler while proceeding to Vasco. 

Rizwan Khan also a resident of Zuarinagar was pillion riding with Mohammad when the accident took place.

Both Mohammad and Rizwan sustained serious injuries and were shifted to Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim. In the evening, Mohammad was declared dead by the doctors on duty. 

Police later arrested the car driver for rash and negligent driving.
