PANJIM: Generations of families got together to stage one of the most memorable and unique events ever held in our Goa. Twenty family teams, who reached  this stage  after going through the preliminary audition rounds, displayed their multifarious talents on stage, as parents and even grannies , went down memory lane to rekindle their singing and instrument playing skills as they teamed up with their little rockstar kids and grandkids to sing, dance, act and stage of Kala Academy on fire.

Each of the twenty families, with two siblings and with parents in some of them, with a granny joining in, playing the violin which got her family team the second prize,  will be easy picks for  any future show called ‘Goa’s Got Talent’ along the lines of America’s famous reality television series ‘America’s  Got Talent’.

Eventually the 3 winners were chosen after some deliberation as the competition was really tough The 5 judges Melvyn Noronha, Donna Noronha, Lulu Fortes, Racquel Fernandes and Snaden Shawn did a great job along with host Wilma Britto bringing the crowd to its feet with a spirited zumba performance towards the end. There were some great performances like ‘The Colaso family’, performing with their grandmother- as we mentioned earlier- playing the violin in tow. They eventually won 2nd place.

The first prize winner was 4-year-old Dwane Cruz playing the drums and also lending vocals along with his dad Neil singing and playing guitar. Their team -In ‘Geneous’ would also have won the prize for the cutest act on stage if there was one.

The third prize was a real tough one with ‘Entertainment Masala’ a spicy mix of dancing, songs and a whole lot of entertainment by emerging eventual winners by a wafer thin margin. There were many other wonderful acts performed each of the other 17 finalists as well.

Children from Snayden’s Academy along with another act by Snayden provided further entertainment to the enthralled crowd who were seen clapping and grooving all along.

The weekend crowd which included friends and family members of participants were enthralled and were seen enjoying the evening to the fullest.

Herald promises to be back next year and keep this annual tradition going for years to come.
