VALPOI: Aalbit D’Souza, a 48-year-old man from Valpoi, committed suicide at his residence. He was a contractor by profession. 

On Friday, neighbours of D’Souza started getting a foul smell from the house and thereafter they called Valpoi Police Station and Valpoi Fire Station.

The fire personnel break-in into the house and found the body of D’Souza in a decomposed manner. 

“We found a poison bottle and a rope next to the body,” the police informed. 

Valpoi Police have done the panchnama and the body is been sent for the post mortem at Goa Medical College, Bambolim.

According to police, D’Souza’s family is abroad and further steps will only be taken after they land in Goa.

At the preliminary stage, police feel it as a suicide but further investigations are on in the case.
